Everything in my life right now feels crooked and blurry like the picture above. Yet, in the background are beautiful things, like this crisp fall day, and delightfully, comforting books about tortillas and sweaters.  I hope you had a great first week in one of the best months of the year.  I realize that many wonderful things happened in the year 1987. But, this worksheet that Myles brought home on his first day of second grade was not one of them. Deep breath.  My friend who had this teacher last year, is talking me off the cliff.  Thankfully, tomorrow is fresh with no mistakes in it yet.

Inside Outside

Does it look like I tossed this book into a bush? Because that is exactly what I did. A little desperate for the fading summer sun to show you this title tonight. It is so very lovely.  Things around here have been moving at an accelerated pace.  Finally summer came to us.  Certain moments have felt frantic, while others, satisfyingly full. Tomorrow we leave for Maine to stay in a borrowed home. It is humbling to be the recipient of undeserved generosity. Thank you can only be said so many times. We will try to leave nothing but footprints (outside) and perhaps an over-sized bar of soap.

Bear Despair

Can't you just feel the love and devotion in Blue Bear's face?  This book is the sixth title in a series called, Story Without Words. How lovely!  Gaetan Doremus' illustrations communicate volumes. Find out what justice looks like after a treacherous wolf thieves precious friend.   The size is perfect for little and big hands alike.   I love that there is no obstacle in unlocking this wonderful story.  You must meet Fox and Hen!
