Wednesday Slump Day

Wednesday is my official slump day.  The house feels crowded. The coffee pot empties faster than normal.  I feel grumpy and ungrateful. The list of things I do not want to do seems larger than life.  And on top of that, last night my overly ambitious knitting project finally got the better of me and I had to unravel the "whole" thing (in reality I was only about 1/8th of the way through, but I was farther along than I had ever gotten.)

This morning my remedy was to turn on the BBC World News Report, and bake my brains out. Pumpkin pie done. And molasses bread next in line.

And re-reading this book should help too. Inspiring in every way.

Last week was the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi.   I told the story of a man who gave his clothes away and danced through the streets to twenty five pairs of eager eyes.  He called himself God's Fool.  He preached to the birds and the beasts, and his first and only wife was Lady Poverty.  He led a hard and beautiful life.  Of course being a bit morbid myself, my favorite page of his Canticle is when we meet Sister Death.

"And, though we often fear her, we praise you for our Sister Death, who will usher us at last into your loving presence, where will know and love you as you have always known and loved us."

I feel better already.

I heart. The yarn, the pie. All things morbid, yet filled with life and love. Save me a slice.

Brother Sun, Sister Moon is such a beautiful book. I bought my first pumpkin of the season this weekend. I hope to make pie in the next few days.
