If loading up on Tin Tin and Holly Hobie books is preparing for the blizzard headed our way then we are good to go. Throw in a bag of salt and vinegar Cape Cod chips and we can weather anything, piece of cake. This morning at the library there were crowds of patrons balancing towering stacks of all the audio visual material they could manage. The librarians smiled wearily. I thought about bringing them a Box o' Joe to aid their stamina, but that idea stayed where it started. Thankfully they were closing early at noon. We made it out with an arsenal.
And then the seas parted and I caught sight of something buried deep in my childhood, Shelley Duvall's Faerie Tale Theatre. Do you remember these? Robin Williams as the Frog Prince? Liza Minelli as the storm worn princess in The Princess and the Pea? My friends and I spent countless hours mesmerized by these tales. The production is so homey, and quality, and hilarious, all at the same time. They are better than I remembered. Myles and Fiona are equally enamored, Praise God. I think I would have had to give them up if they did not perform cartwheels after viewing. Their favorite part was when Red Riding Hood knocked at the door of Granny's house who was still working on her precious red hood. Stalling for time to hide the gift, Granny shouts, "Wait...uhh..I'm naked!" It is better than it sounds.

I love Faery Tale Theatre! I did a blog post on that as well. I was worried my kids wouldn't enjoy them, but the love them, too. The Frog Prince is the BEST!!
I'm putting this on my request list! Apparently we are the envy of the country with this storm. The tide will turn soon enough. :)
They were forgotten to me for many years! Have a great weekend :)
LOVE IT!!!! Faery Tale Theatre is the BEST! I was recently reminded of her Rumpelstiltskin... scary and amazingly engaging.
I love Shelley Duvall's googly voice. Have you ever seen the old Wonderworks film "Frog" with her and Elliot Gould?
Oh MY! I had forgotten about Faerie Tale Theater!! I used to sneak downstairs to the basement TV to watch it on the weekends when I though no one would notice my "too cool" self sitting there mesmerized! Now I'm going to have to run out and grab this for our movie night this week! Thanks for the trip down memory lane!!
